Mr Raymond Tang

Mr. Tang is a lawyer by profession. He commenced his practice as a lawyer in England in 1967 and later in Hong Kong, initially as a solicitor and then as a barrister at the Hong Kong Bar.

Over the years, Mr. Tang has served on professional bodies as well as a variety of boards and committees on various subjects, ranging from use of Chinese language in the courts (a localization initiative ahead of resumption of sovereignty over Hong Kong by the People’s Republic of China), to promotion of trial advocacy, and protection of employee compensation rights, etc.

Mr. Tang’s appointments to substantive public service posts included serving as Chief Counsel to the Securities and Futures Commission, Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data and Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission.

Currently, Mr. Tang is the Convenor and Chairman of the Board of the Hong Kong United Foundation Ltd., a non-governmental organization dedicated to the promotion of constructive social discourse, opinion leadership, online multimedia publicity and communication, youth education and career development.

Mr. Tang serves as a director of Belt and Road Hong Kong Centre Co. Ltd. and Bay Area Hong Kong Centre Co. Ltd.
